October 2026: Law, piano and power dynamics
Sometimes I think the whole journey of my adult life is this courageous attempt of a much younger self to stand up to abusive authority that she knew at the time was deeply wrong but did not have the power to take the stand against. I have this pervading image from my childhood. I was at the piano rooms of my then piano teacher – a very tall and imposing catholic nun, aptly named Sister Terasina (”Terror” sina). September 2026: Devotion to Descent – Motherland Magic
My relationship with the land where I was born deepened this past August – and it feels like a relationship that has evolved since the same time last year – meaningfully around the time of my birthday when I was born into this place and location. A deep and often difficult process of uncoupling and unentangling my energetic roots from all of the dysfunctional systems and false webs that have laid claim to them – has led me to lean more and more for support on my land mother, to listen more to her, to feel her more. July 2026: Natural Law
Because I did not do a basic law degree, I never studied jurisprudence1 and never learned any legal philosophy. The first time I came across the phrase ‘Natural Law’ was 8 or 9 years ago after reading two separate books that deeply touched on this idea. The first book was ‘The Ecology of Law – Toward a Legal System in Tune with Nature and Community’ by Fritjof Capra and Ugo Mattei. The second was ‘Wild Law: A Manifesto for Earth Justice’ by Cormac Cullinan. Read more on Substack here.
